"Hi Everybody!

My name is "Big Chuck" and I have been doing morning radio in Oneonta on WDOS for almost a quarter of a century!  I have been asked to drop in on this website once in a while to introduce myself to you all.  I was born Chuck D'Imperio in Sidney in 1949....so I have been a pretty regular name and face around here for a long time.

I hope you enjoy my posts on this website!

Lets get started......

WHAT WAS YOUR FIRST TV SET?

Well television came to the D'Imperio household for the first time by way of a brand new 1953 Philco television set.  Isn't it funny how we considered television sets to be pieces of furniture in those days?  My mother would polish the wood every week and dust it every day.  The kids were instructed to "Not fool with the TV" and it was the most expensive item (other than the house and car) that my parents ever bought up to that time!  It even had doors on it to close off the screen.

Here you can see the doors are open.

And remember the TV lamp on the top?  Every house had to have one so "we didnt ruin our eyesight."  And the TV Guide?  You'd get your hand slapped if you ever dared touch it.  That was definitely "FOR ADULTS ONLY territory!  God forbid the TV Guide ever came up missing, right?

Please search BIG CHUCK on Facebook and join in the conversation and see what other listeners are saying about their very first TV set.  And let me know about yours!

My email address is WDOSBIGCHUCK@AOL.COM

Emmanuel Episcopal Church's Outreach Committee has "cast a spell" to conjure their most magnificent benefit dinner plans for the American Cancer Society's Relay For Life.  This year's theme is "Fairy Tales!"  It features a pork tenderloin dinner and Chinese auction Saturday, April 21, from 4:30 to 7:00pm.  It all takes place at the church at 37 West Main Street in Norwich.  All are welcome!

How many of you remember W.C. Fields?

I was flipping through the channels last night and came upon an old W.C. Fields movie. Before too long my chuckles turned into belly laughs and then I had tears rolling down my cheeks. What a clever comedian he was. Watch this little clip of Fields playing pool. His

hands never stop moving!

What a funny guy!
